Consumption of processed and ultraprocessed foods by physical activies: A review
goal
Evaluate consumption of processed and ultra-processed foods in practitioners of physical activiy, comparing by regions of the world.
Results
When food intake was assessed, taking into account the level of food processing and whether or not physical activity was performed, individuals who performed regular physical activity consumed less processed and ultra-processed food. Studies in North America suggested that the most consumed nutrients through eating hamburgers and sandwiches are saturated and trans fats, in Europe the main nutrients consumed through eating processed and ultra-processed foods are fats and sugars. In South America sugar is highly consumed through the intake of chocolates, sweet cookies, bakery sweets, ice cream and soft drinks. Conclusion: It was found that there was consumption of processed and ultra-processed foods by practitioners of physical activities. The longer the time and dedication to the practice of exercises, the lower the intake of processed and ultra-processed foods and a higher incidence of fresh foods.
